Loyola University Chicago Selected as a Partner for the US CYBERCOM Academic Engagement Network

Loyola University Chicago was one of 84 institutions selected as part of the US CYBERCOM Academic Engagement Network (AEN). The AEN will be used to "enhance four primary lines of effort", namely workforce development, cybersecurity research, applied analytics, and other strategic issues. After the designation of Loyola University Chicago as a NSA/DHS National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense, this partnership shows that Loyola is becoming a major player in both cybersecurity research and education.

Dr. Eric Chan-Tin, associate professor in the Department of Computer Science, is the Principal Investigator for both efforts. The US Cyber Command (CYBERCOM) is charged with defending, strengthening, and unifying US cyberspace operations.

"Loyola University Chicago’s selection is a recognition of the outstanding personnel within our cybersecurity-focused academic programs and research areas, and I look forward to the new opportunities to support U.S. cyber efforts that will arise out of these initiatives,” says Department Chair, Dr. George K. Thiruvathukal.
