Welcoming Dr. Satyaki Sikdar to the Department of Computer Science

We are excited to welcome Dr. Satyaki Sikdar as a new faculty member in the Department of Computer Science this Fall semester (2024). Dr. Sikdar brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our department, with a strong background in network science, machine learning, and computational social science.

Before joining Loyola University Chicago, Dr. Sikdar was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Indiana University, Bloomington, where he collaborated with Dr. Santo Fortunato to study citation and collaboration networks, aiming to better understand the scientific and research communities. He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science & Engineering from the University of Notre Dame in January 2022, where he worked with Dr. Tim Weninger, and holds a bachelor's degree in Computer Science & Engineering from Heritage Institute of Technology in Kolkata, India.

Dr. Sikdar’s core research interests lie in understanding the mechanisms that govern complex, interconnected systems. His work at the intersection of network science, machine learning, and computational social science promises to enrich the department’s research and offer students exciting new opportunities.

We are thrilled to have Dr. Sikdar on board and look forward to the impact he will have on our academic community!
